Rose & Adam’s Reception in Blue Ridge Georgia

Posted in My Family, Reception, Wedding on July 27th, 2010 by Courtney – Be the first to comment

Rose and Adam had their reception at Pat’s Kountry Kitchen.  They had a great room for the reception and some of the best fried chicken I’ve had in a while!

The mother of the groom (in the middle, also my aunt) and her friends giving the couple a congratulations.

Chris, who introduced the bride and groom, makes a speech.

Adam’s sister, my cousin Robin, also made a touching speech at the reception.

The gorgeous bride enjoys her first dance with her husband.

And the traditional father daughter dance

Rose’s father and his four brothers!

They are off!  (Note to brides and grooms to be… bird seed hurts!)

Ready for Mexico!

I love the colorful flowers!

No words are needed to describe the joy and love in these next few photos…

It was quite a hot day, but we stopped for a quick photo in front of the church before heading to the reception.

Adam and Rose’s Rehearsal in Blue Ridge GA

Posted in My Family, Wedding on July 17th, 2010 by Courtney – Be the first to comment

My cousin Adam got married over Memorial Day weekend in Blue Ridge Georgia.  We all love his beautiful and loving bride Rose!  I was excited to have the chance to be their photographer.  I’m always capturing such special moments for my clients and their families, and it was a moving experience to be able to capture those moments for my own family.

On Friday afternoon we had a bridal luncheon for Rose.  All the ladies wrote down two of our favorite recipes for Rose to start her a collection so that she and Adam can enjoy cooking together in their new home.  I thought this was a fabulous idea, and I pitched in two recipes from my Italy trip in 2004 – including one for tiramisu!  (We did it ahead of time, they sent the recipe cards in with the invitation.)  Here are the ladies.

Next we went to the rehearsal.  I love to see Rose looking into Adam’s eyes with such love!

And excitement!

Rose’s sister sang in the ceremony.

The rehearsal dinner was held at The Toccoa River Restaurant.

The mother of the groom (also my Aunt) gave a great toast at the rehearsal dinner.

As did Adam’s best friend and best man.

More to come soon!

I have a new nephew!

Posted in Children and Babies, My Family, Portraits on July 13th, 2010 by Courtney – 1 Comment

Here are some more of the family photos I promised yesterday.  A little explanation… My next door neighbors growing up were like a second family to me.  We saw them every day, and shared all of our most important moments with them.  So I refer to Dona and Bill as my other parents, and call Crawford my big brother.  That being said, I have one beautiful niece – Crawford and Amy’s daughter Lucinda.  (There are tons of blog posts with photos of her.)  I also have a nephew – my sister Heather and her husband Ryan’s son Sylvan, the star of the last post.  As of July 7th, 2010, I now have another nephew!  Crawford and Amy’s son Winter was born last week, and here are a few shots from the hospital.  I’ll be doing a more official session this weeks, so more to come for sure.

Lucinda contemplates becoming a big sister.

Lucinda has some fun with dad.

The happy family!

Winter – isn’t he beautiful?

A little grumpy…

I call this one, “Put me back!”

Some Family Photos in Blue Ridge GA

My cousin Adam got married over Memorial Day weekend in Blue Ridge, GA. My whole family rented some cabins in Blue Ridge and stayed for the week.  Of course, the main highlight of the trip was seeing my sister and her son, as they live in Oregon.  Being on opposite sides of the country isn’t conducive to many visits.  He’s also adorable, so most of the photos do star him!  Here are some favorites.

Sylvan got this rocket toy from his grandmother.  He played with it, shooting off the rockets and running to pick them up for a long time, but I love this moment I captured where he’s just staring off over the lake, probably mesmerized by a bird or something.  So cute!

My “other family” The Humphreys have a mountain house in Blue Ridge.  We went for an evening to visit and Sylvan got to drive the tractor!  He was really excited.  He’s concentrating very hard in the photo below because he’s actually making the scooper part go up and down.  (OK, I’m not a tractor expert.)

Here he’s watching his grandfather to learn the art of fishing.  I love the glasses over the hat look!

Then, he helped his mom (my sister Heather) reel one in!

The proud fishermen.

Here Sylvan is making cookies with his grandmother.

And reading a book while the cookies bake.  Such a sweet boy!

We had another adventure while in the mountains – we went gem stoning.  Sylvan found lots of treasures!

And here he’s showing me his favorite one.

So I may be biased, but Sylvan is the cutest!  More family photos to come soon, as I photographed my cousin’s wedding.  Sylvan was the ring bearer and was just adorable.  Also, my “other family” The Humphreys welcomed a new baby boy into their family last week, so photos of them will follow as well.

Here’s my final post on Ann & Ryan’s wedding.  It was such a fabulous celebration and I truly was thrilled to photograph it!

Now that’s a beautiful family!

A sweet photo of Ann & Ryan

Friends congratulating the bride.

Ann and her girls

Ann’s father gave a touching toast at the reception.

Ryan’s brother wrote a song as his toast to the bride and groom.

Then, the dancing began!  This, as you might guess, was the chicken dance.

Fun was had by all.

Especially Sarah!

More of Ann & Ryan’s Maggie Valley Wedding

The view at the wedding was just beautiful.  I took these photos of Ann about an hour before the ceremony was to begin.  The clouds were rolling in, but we were all keeping our fingers crossed.

Ann with her flower girls and program attendants.

Ann with her dad before the ceremony.  They drove up to the site in this golf cart!

The ceremony was beautiful.

As you can see, the clouds were overhead and ominous, but it never rained!  It turned out to be the perfect weather – the clouds and breeze kept us cool (and provided soft light for the photography) and we stayed dry.

I love this photo.  Ann hugging her best friend and Matron of Honor while Ryan hugs his brother and Best Man.

More from the reception soon!

Ann and I went to school together from age 6ish through high school graduation.  She’s a wonderful friend and I was honored when she asked me to photograph her wedding.  Ann and Ryan got married at The Maggie Valley Club in Maggie Valley, NC.  It was a beautiful background for the celebration.  Here are some of my favorite photos from the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner.
