Baby Winter – born in Georgia in July!

Posted in Children and Babies, My Family, Portraits on August 29th, 2010 by Courtney – Be the first to comment

I introduced you to Winter just after he was born in this post.  These photos were taken when he was about 9 days old, which is a great time for newborn photos.  Within the first 2 weeks a baby is still sleeping a lot and is comfortable in those cute curled up positions.  These photos were all taken on location in the comfort of the new family’s home.

Winter is a thinking man!

Can’t resist this little cutie!

Here he’s asleep in his daddy’s arms.

And looking into Mama’s loving eyes.

He’s already a happy boy!!

This is one photo/pose that clients often request.  It calls for one strong arm and one very sleepy baby.

The happy family.

(You may recognize Mama Amy from the front page of my web site.  Winter’s older sister Lucinda was the model for that photo, just over a year before!)

Rose & Adam’s Reception in Blue Ridge Georgia

Posted in My Family, Reception, Wedding on July 27th, 2010 by Courtney – Be the first to comment

Rose and Adam had their reception at Pat’s Kountry Kitchen.  They had a great room for the reception and some of the best fried chicken I’ve had in a while!

The mother of the groom (in the middle, also my aunt) and her friends giving the couple a congratulations.

Chris, who introduced the bride and groom, makes a speech.

Adam’s sister, my cousin Robin, also made a touching speech at the reception.

The gorgeous bride enjoys her first dance with her husband.

And the traditional father daughter dance

Rose’s father and his four brothers!

They are off!  (Note to brides and grooms to be… bird seed hurts!)

Ready for Mexico!

Rose gets her makeup done at the salon.

I love the colorful flowers!

No words are needed to describe the joy and love in these next few photos…

It was quite a hot day, but we stopped for a quick photo in front of the church before heading to the reception.

More to come!

Adam and Rose’s Rehearsal in Blue Ridge GA

Posted in My Family, Wedding on July 17th, 2010 by Courtney – Be the first to comment

My cousin Adam got married over Memorial Day weekend in Blue Ridge Georgia.  We all love his beautiful and loving bride Rose!  I was excited to have the chance to be their photographer.  I’m always capturing such special moments for my clients and their families, and it was a moving experience to be able to capture those moments for my own family.

On Friday afternoon we had a bridal luncheon for Rose.  All the ladies wrote down two of our favorite recipes for Rose to start her a collection so that she and Adam can enjoy cooking together in their new home.  I thought this was a fabulous idea, and I pitched in two recipes from my Italy trip in 2004 – including one for tiramisu!  (We did it ahead of time, they sent the recipe cards in with the invitation.)  Here are the ladies.

Next we went to the rehearsal.  I love to see Rose looking into Adam’s eyes with such love!

And excitement!

Rose’s sister sang in the ceremony.

The rehearsal dinner was held at The Toccoa River Restaurant.

The mother of the groom (also my Aunt) gave a great toast at the rehearsal dinner.

As did Adam’s best friend and best man.

More to come soon!

I have a new nephew!

Posted in Children and Babies, My Family, Portraits on July 13th, 2010 by Courtney – 1 Comment

Here are some more of the family photos I promised yesterday.  A little explanation… My next door neighbors growing up were like a second family to me.  We saw them every day, and shared all of our most important moments with them.  So I refer to Dona and Bill as my other parents, and call Crawford my big brother.  That being said, I have one beautiful niece – Crawford and Amy’s daughter Lucinda.  (There are tons of blog posts with photos of her.)  I also have a nephew – my sister Heather and her husband Ryan’s son Sylvan, the star of the last post.  As of July 7th, 2010, I now have another nephew!  Crawford and Amy’s son Winter was born last week, and here are a few shots from the hospital.  I’ll be doing a more official session this weeks, so more to come for sure.

Lucinda contemplates becoming a big sister.

Lucinda has some fun with dad.

The happy family!

Winter – isn’t he beautiful?

A little grumpy…

I call this one, “Put me back!”

Some Family Photos in Blue Ridge GA

Posted in Children and Babies, My Family, Portraits on July 12th, 2010 by Courtney – Be the first to comment

My cousin Adam got married over Memorial Day weekend in Blue Ridge, GA. My whole family rented some cabins in Blue Ridge and stayed for the week.  Of course, the main highlight of the trip was seeing my sister and her son, as they live in Oregon.  Being on opposite sides of the country isn’t conducive to many visits.  He’s also adorable, so most of the photos do star him!  Here are some favorites.

Sylvan got this rocket toy from his grandmother.  He played with it, shooting off the rockets and running to pick them up for a long time, but I love this moment I captured where he’s just staring off over the lake, probably mesmerized by a bird or something.  So cute!

My “other family” The Humphreys have a mountain house in Blue Ridge.  We went for an evening to visit and Sylvan got to drive the tractor!  He was really excited.  He’s concentrating very hard in the photo below because he’s actually making the scooper part go up and down.  (OK, I’m not a tractor expert.)

Here he’s watching his grandfather to learn the art of fishing.  I love the glasses over the hat look!

Then, he helped his mom (my sister Heather) reel one in!

The proud fishermen.

Here Sylvan is making cookies with his grandmother.

And reading a book while the cookies bake.  Such a sweet boy!

We had another adventure while in the mountains – we went gem stoning.  Sylvan found lots of treasures!

And here he’s showing me his favorite one.

So I may be biased, but Sylvan is the cutest!  More family photos to come soon, as I photographed my cousin’s wedding.  Sylvan was the ring bearer and was just adorable.  Also, my “other family” The Humphreys welcomed a new baby boy into their family last week, so photos of them will follow as well.

Rose & Adam's Engagement Session in Asheville, NC

I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving.  I enjoyed time with my family in Asheville, NC.  It was a gorgeous week with blue skies and crisp cool air!  Also, I got to photograph a very special engagement session while in Asheville.  My cousin Adam is getting married to Rose this summer and I’m going to photograph their wedding!  We all met Rose last Thanksgiving and could quickly see how Adam had fallen in love with her.  My parents and aunt live in a beautiful community in Asheville, so we just stepped out the door for the photography session!  Here are some of my favorites.

Family Vacation in August

In August I went on a fun filled family vacation!  My mom, dad, aunt and I all flew out to Oregon and picked up my sister and her husband and son and went straight to the coast of Oregon.  We had a fantastic time on the beach, playing in the sand, enjoying the great weather.  Of course, I brought my camera.  Here are some of my favorite photos.

This is my nephew Sylvan on the first day of our vacation.

Sylvan – Part 3

OK – Here is one last post on my adorable nephew.  This first photo is a favorite of mine.  I took it when Sylvan was only 2 months old.
It looks like Sylvan has gotten used to all of Mama and Papa’s loving now that he’s two years old!  (See the photo below this one…)

While I was visiting Oregon we took a trip to Zumwalt Park.  I love this photo of all of us!  (That’s Ryan on the left with Sylvan on his shoulders, me in the middle, and Heather on the right, reaching to hold Sylvan’s hand.)

Here are a few photos of the view.

Sylvan – Part 2

Here are a few more photo from my trip to see my sister, brother-in-law and nephew.

This first one is Sylvan just being silly!

One night we went bowling.  Sylvan had a great time.  My favorite photos, though, were the more serious ones.
I love how he watched the ball roll (slowly) down the alley to see how many pins he knocked down

I think he was getting tired too.

This is my favorite photo from the whole trip.  It looks like he’s in the studio mixing up his newest hit.
If he becomes a famous musician one day I’m going to make some big money off this photo!!
