Laura and Wes' Ceremony in The Day Chapel at The State Botanical Garden of Georgia
Laura and Wes' Wedding Ceremony took place in The Day Chapel at The State Botanical Garden of Georgia. It was a sweet and beautiful ceremony. I'll let the photos speak for themselves.Since we had taken most of the photos before the ceremony, we had time to take a few of just Wes and Laura and the wedding party after the ceremony was over. The Doors of The Day Chapel are just gorgeous! The Wedding PartyBeautiful!Walking to The Visitor's Center where the Reception took place... and those photos are up next!
Laura and Wes' Wedding Day at The State Botanical Garden of Georgia in Athens
Laura and Wes got married at The State Botanical Garden of Georgia on a beautiful July day.I have never seen a wedding band like Laura's. Isn't it beautiful? And her dress was just perfect. The exact right combination of ruching and lace!Laura and Wes, like many of the couples I photograph, chose to see each other before the ceremony. This allows for a private, personal moment between the bride and groom - the "first look." It also allows us to get most of the wedding party and family photographs taken before the ceremony begins. That way everyone can get to the reception much faster, and the guests don't have to wait so long for the bride and groom! Here are the photos from Laura and Wes' first look. This is the "Men's Dressing Room" at the Day Chapel - It's much more like a closet. A tiny closet that doesn't even hold all of the guys in the wedding party!! Luckily, guys don't need much time or space to get ready! The Wedding Party.Wes and Laura with the adorable Flower Girls and Ring Bearer.Wes and Laura with their parents. The ring bearer was quite proud of his "pillow." It even had the real rings attached!!Having fun before the ceremony. Beautiful bouquets by Gardenia Floral Design.Laura - waiting on the stairs for the ceremony to begin. One of the flower girls was keeping her smiling, being silly on the other side of the railing.I'll post the ceremony next!!

Margaret and David’s Wedding Ceremony at All Saints Catholic Church in Dunwoody, GA
Margaret and David were married at All Saints Catholic Church in Dunwoody, Georgia. This photo has so much emotion! Margaret is looking at her handsome groom who is waiting for her at the end of the aisle, while her father is looking at her with such emotion! I can just hear him thinking about his little girl - all grown up.I thought it was incredibly special that Margaret's brother Patrick was the priest who performed the wedding ceremony. I wonder what he's saying! David and Margaret share a moment. The chalice used in communion was made by David's grandfather by hand from cherry wood. He gave it to Margaret's brother for his ordination.Such a sweet moment during the "sign of peace" when David's grandmother gave Margaret's mother a kiss on the cheek. It's official!www.courtneygoldman.com
Margaret and David's Wedding at All Saints Catholic Church in Dunwoody, GA
Margaret and David got married on April 30th in Atlanta. I was so excited to get to photograph their wedding, since I’d met them as guests about a year earlier at Jackie and Greg’s wedding! It was so fun to see the same group of folks again, including one couple who had been expecting a baby at the first wedding, and brought him along at this one! I’ll show you those photos when I get to the reception.First, the “pre-ceremony” photos. I started off at Margaret’s house and took a few photos of her there, getting her jewelry on and hanging out with her parents and bridesmaids before heading to the church.Margaret’s dress was just beautiful. I photographed the dress with the veil draped over it using a fish eye lens. This gave a softness to the detail, and some rounded distortion to the lines in the photograph that I really like. This next photo shows Margaret and her sister, looking into the mirror, making sure that she looks just right. I love that they’ve got such similar serene looks on their face – and of course that they are holding hands! (Katherine had been helping Margaret brace herself as her bridesmaid laced up the back of her gown.)Margaret’s “Something Blue.”There was such perfect light bouncing off the sidewalk, I had to take a few photos at the side of the church. Here are the girls – aren’t they cute?!Margaret and her mom share a Mother Daughter moment. There’s something about this look that I just love. Her father was arriving at the church, and it put a sweet smile on Margaret’s face.My last photo is of me. Oh, and the rings! I can’t help but leave a self portrait in some ring photos!I will post more photos from Margaret and David’s wedding soon!
Grace and Robert's Engagement Session at The Botanical Garden in Athens, GA
Grace and Robert are getting married this weekend! I'm looking forward to working with them - we had such fun at the engagement session. I photographed their engagement session at The State Botanical Garden of Georgia in April. The weather was just gorgeous! Here are a few of my favorites from the day.I love red Japanese Maples, so I had to start with some photos in front of this one. It was just a bonus that Grace has the most beautiful red hair, making the tree an even better background! We went into the shade garden, one of the quietest parts of the garden.Grace looked great in her sundress. After a quick change of clothes we headed into the main part of the Garden. Look at all that lush greenery!Congratulations Grace and Robert! See you two on Saturday.

Dawn and Rick's Wedding at Square One Fish Co. in Athens, GA
Dawn and Rick are one of the most genuine, high energy, fun, loving, and fabulous couples I've photographed! We had a blast at their engagement session. After being a guest at their rehearsal dinner and meeting their friends and family, I knew the wedding was going to be just as fun! Dawn and Rick didn't do anything "by the books." They were married at Square One Fish Co, a seafood restaurant in Athens, Georgia. In lieu of flower arrangements on the tables, Dawn made the porch of Square One into a "garden party" by covering it in potted plants and trees, which she and Rick have been enjoying in their yard since the wedding! Dawn wore a blue dress and an amazing hat (which was prone to catching wind, as seen here.)Here Rick proudly shows off the wedding invitation, which his friend framed as a gift!Dawn and her father, waiting for the ceremony to begin - and apparently having lots of fun!Rick and the officiant before the Dawn came down the aisle -- he seems to be ready to go!This shows off the dogwoods, azaleas, and other greenery added by dawn. Also, who wouldn't want to get married under a giant swordfish?I love the genuine joy!And love.More to come!

Kristen and Charley's Wedding Ceremony at The UGA Chapel in Athens, GA
Kristen and Charley were married at the UGA Chapel in Athens. Charley looked particularly handsome in his military uniform. You can see in the two photos below that Kristen and Charley were gazing into each others' eyes as she walked down the aisle. It was truly a beautiful wedding.
Kristen and Charley's Wedding Party Portraits
After the 'First Look' we took some photos with the wedding party. Kristen and Charley got married on a gorgeous spring day, so we had to take advantage of the weather, the greenery and the blooming trees!Kristen's wedding color was pink, so this tree was just perfect. Lovely ladies, too!Charley and his groomsmen.Kristen's adorable niece was the flower girl.Charley's sister, looking beautiful! The flower girl was such little model. She caught me turning the camera in her direction and immediately "struck a pose," leaning back on the stairs just so. Adorable!Kristen and her mom, just before the ceremony.Next I'll post the ceremony!
Kristen and Charley's First Look Photos
I know that tradition states that the bride and groom should not see each other before the ceremony on their wedding day. I understand that this tradition can add to the excitement and anticipation of the wedding ceremony, which can be fun! It also means that family and wedding party photos twill have to be taken after the ceremony, while all of the guests are waiting. When the couple is open to it, I often suggest that they see each other before the wedding. I like to improve the flow of the day and minimize waiting guests, but I also like to keep the excitement of the tradition! On the day of the wedding, both the bride and the groom get all ready to go, without seeing each other at all. Then, I pick out a pretty and private spot for the bride and groom to have their first look. I don't let other folks watch, but I do take pictures! This moment is so sweet, so special, and so private between the two people who are about to get married and spend their life together. It allows them to hug, to kiss, and to tell each other how amazing they look and how excited they are to begin this journey - and of course, it is a fabulous photo op!I'm happy to talk to you more about this choice, and to help you decide if it is right for you, but in the meantime - here are the photos from Kristen and Charley's First Look.More photos from Kristen and Charley's wedding to follow.
Dawn and Rick's Engagement Session at UGA in Athens
Dawn and Rick met in Athens, at NONA - New Orleans 'N Athens. They love to spend time riding on their motorcycles, so we thought that would be fun for some of the engagement photos. Then we walked around North Campus and got some more photos. Rick was a student at UGA, and shared lots of fun memories with us!This sun dial is in the Founder's Garden on UGA's campus. It's got such a sweet quote, "Grow Old Along with Me The Best is Yet To Be." Take a look at Dawn's beautiful, unique engagement ring! It's a yellow sapphire surrounded by diamonds. I'm looking forward to the wedding this weekend!
Nicole and Tyler's Reception at The Taylor Grady House in Athens - The Party!
This is my last post on Nicole and Tyler's Wedding at The Taylor Grady House. I know I've mentioned the rain a lot, and hate to dwell on it, but it really was the theme of the party... well, the rain not winning was the theme! Too much water came into the tent, and the band had to stop playing for safety reasons (note to future brides, if you have a stage, the band can usually keep going...) but the party in no way stopped. With the sound system from the ceremony and an ipod, the dancing began! My favorite part of the dancing was this hat. Whoever put it on became a dancing machine!Nicole and Tyler's friends were awesome. Not only did they have a great time at the wedding, celebrating with the couple, they also were so helpful to me! During the garter toss, Tyler's friend Noah held an umbrella over me so I could get photos without the camera getting wet, and another friend held an umbrella for Nicole!Look at the height Nicole got on the bouquet toss!Congratulations Tyler and Nicole!www.CourtneyGoldman.com

This one was white cake with strawberry filling - or at least the layer I had a piece from was! There was a brief power outage within the tent, so I got this shot of the Japanese lantern and the rain outside the tent. One more post from this wedding to come... the dancing!
